Over-Coming Adversity Scholarship

Courage is not acquired by an easy life, courage is obtained by overcoming difficult times and adverse situations. This principle was the driving force behind the Boehmer Law LLC “Overcoming Adversity” essay scholarship contest. High School Seniors from St. Charles, Pike, Warren, and Lincoln County were invited to compete in this contest by submitting an essay about adversities that they had overcome in their lives. Eric Boehmer, owner of Boehmer Law LLC, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2016 Overcoming Adversity Scholarship are Katie Ladlie from Troy Buchanan High School in Troy, Mo and Jonathan Thompson of Living Word Christian High School in O’Fallon, Mo.

Boehmer Law is pleased to be offering two (2) $500.00 college scholarships to High School Seniors living and attending High School in one of the following areas of Missouri: St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Pike County, or Warren County. A $500.00 college scholarship will be awarded to one (1) male and one (1) female graduating from High School in the spring of 2016. Please review the following information for the scholarship requirements and information.  

DUE DATE: Must be post marked by April 20th, 2016. No Essay’s will be accepted after this time.

Eligibility Requirements for Applying Student:

1) Must be a High School Senior graduating High School in spring of 2016 in one of the following counties of Missouri: St. Charles, Warren, Pike, or Lincoln.

2) Must have a 2.5 GPA going into the last semester or 3rd quarter of your senior year. The winning essay must show proof of grades from the high school before funds will be released for the scholarship.

3) Must be attending college in the fall of 2016. The scholarship will be paid directly to the school and applied to the winning student’s tuition in the fall of 2016. It is the responsibility of the winning students to notify Boehmer Law in writing of any school choice changes. If winning student does not enroll or un-enrolls from the pre-designated college originally given to Boehmer Law, LLC the scholarship is forfeited. No money will be released to the winning students directly.

What to Do:

1) Essay topic is “Over Coming Adversity”. We want to hear your story of how you have overcome any kind of adversity in your life. These topics could be (but not limited to) illness, loss of a family member or friend, overcoming family tragedy, what you have done to help someone else going through adversity or tough times in their life.  

2) Please print off the cover page from the Boehmer Law website and neatly print the information asked for on the form. This must be printed off and included as the front page of your essay to be considered for the scholarship.  

3) Essay must be typed and double spaced in Times New Roman Font.  

4) Essay should be between two (2) and five (5) pages in length.  

5) Essays will be judged on grammar, spelling, and content. A three (3) person panel will be judging the essays. Each essay is assigned a point value of 1-100. The highest scored male and female applicants will each be awarded a $500.00 scholarship.
